Designed to fit within the Gowen Field master plan, this project endeavored to project a campus ambiance through more aesthetic use of design elements uncommon to this military facility. The design goal was to have the office and maintenance functions in the same building. The 16,000 sq. ft. Facility was designed to provide a comfortable office and administrative space and additionally to house the maintenance and storage needs as serviced by its fleet of vehicles. With the exception of overhead doors, the building looks to be a well landscaped office building. Special design attention was placed and focused on the creation of a dominant entrance of glass block, brick and a peaked skylight roof, the effective use of color, lighting and material treatment mark this building as a trend setting advancement for the client regarding architectural design. The building is nestled carefully on a tight site with mounding separating parking from the building and hedges concealing the necessary security fencing. This project was a joint venture with another architectural firm.
